Hi, I’m Janna Rae, and welcome to Kitchen of Jenna.
I’m so happy you’re here. This space means a lot to me because it’s more than just a recipe website. It’s a piece of my life, my memories, my family, and my heart.
Everything you’ll find here comes from my own kitchen, my own table, and my own story.

Where It All Began
I was born and raised in the southern part, where food is part of everyday life. In the South, cooking is not just about feeding people. It’s about bringing everyone together. It’s about comfort. It’s about tradition.
Some of my earliest memories are in the kitchen with my mother. I remember standing on a chair just to reach the counter. I remember watching her cook without even looking at a recipe. She never measured things exactly. She cooked by feeling, by taste, by smell.
That’s where I learned.
My love for cooking didn’t come from books or classes. It came from watching her hands move with confidence. It came from family dinners where everyone sat at the table and talked about their day. It came from the warmth of a home-cooked meal after a long day.
Learning From My Mother
My mother is the reason I cook the way I do today.
She taught me that food doesn’t have to be fancy to be good. It just has to be made with care. She showed me how to season food slowly, how to taste along the way, and how to trust my instincts.
I learned by helping her. Washing vegetables. Stirring pots. Mixing batter. Over time, she started letting me take over small parts of the meal. That gave me confidence.
She didn’t just teach me recipes. She taught me patience. She taught me that cooking is a way to show love without saying a word.
Even now, when I cook in my own kitchen, I still think about her. Many of the dishes I share here are inspired by what she taught me.
Falling in Love in High School
When I was in high school, I met Nathan.
We were young, and life felt simple. We started as friends, spending time together, laughing about small things. Before I knew it, I had fallen in love.
Nathan has always been hardworking and kind. Even back then, I could see the kind of man he would become. We grew up together in many ways. We supported each other’s dreams and stood by each other through everything.
I used to joke with him that one day I would cook for him every night. He would laugh and say he would happily eat whatever I made.
Back then, it was just sweet young talk. Now, it’s our real life.
Marriage and Cooking Side by Side

After we got married, cooking became something we did together.
Some couples have hobbies they share. For us, it’s the kitchen. Nathan enjoys being part of the process. Sometimes he handles the grill. Sometimes he helps with chopping and prepping. Other times, he just stands beside me and keeps me company while I cook.
There have been times when we tried new recipes and they didn’t turn out right. We’ve burned things. We’ve added too much salt. We’ve laughed at our mistakes.
But those moments are special to me. Cooking together isn’t about being perfect. It’s about spending time together. It’s about teamwork.
The kitchen in our home is not just my space. It’s our space.
Life as a Mother of Two
I’m also a proud mother of two beautiful daughters.
Becoming a mom changed how I see everything, especially cooking. Now, every meal I make is for them. I want them to grow up with the same memories I had — the smell of dinner cooking, the sound of plates being set on the table, the feeling of everyone sitting down together.
Sometimes my daughters stand beside me while I cook, just like I used to stand beside my mother. They like to stir, taste, and ask questions. It makes me smile every time.
I want them to understand that cooking is not a chore. It’s a gift. It’s a way to take care of the people you love.
Family dinners are very important to me. Even on busy days, I try my best to cook something homemade. It doesn’t have to be big or fancy. Even simple meals can feel special when shared together.
Why I Started Kitchen of Jenna
For many years, I only cooked for my family and close friends. Whenever we had guests over, they would ask for the recipe. Some would tell me I should start sharing my dishes with more people.
At first, I didn’t think I could. I’m just a home cook. I make simple meals. Nothing too complicated.
But then I realized something. Simple meals are what most families need. Real recipes for real life. Food that works for busy moms, hardworking dads, and families who just want to sit down and eat together.
That’s how Kitchen of Jenna was born.
This website is my way of sharing what I’ve learned from my mother, what I’ve created in my own kitchen, and what my family enjoys every week.
Every recipe here has been made in my home. My husband and daughters have tasted it. If they love it, then I share it.

My Cooking Style
My cooking style is simple, comforting, and full of flavor.
I don’t focus on complicated techniques or hard-to-find ingredients. I believe good food can be made with basic pantry items and fresh ingredients.
Most of my recipes are:
- Easy to follow
- Family-friendly
- Made with everyday ingredients
- Tested in my own kitchen
I love southern-inspired meals because that’s how I grew up. But I also enjoy trying new ideas and adding my own touch to different dishes.
Cooking should not feel stressful. It should feel natural. That’s what I want to share here.
